Former Star Wars actress Gina Carano became somewhat notorious for her controversial Tweets throughout the airing of The Mandalorian Season 2.

In fact, the divisive actress was ultimately fired from her role as New Republic Marshal Cara Dune as a result of the online controversy that went on for months — opposing hashtags like #FireGinaCarano and #WeLoveCaraDune even trended off and on for quite some time.

Despite the fact that Carano’s costars, including Mandalorian leading man Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand), supported her throughout the drama that followed her last year, it wasn’t enough to save the former women’s MMA and Muay Thai fighter’s job in the Star Wars franchise.
Soon after her firing, Carano joined forces with The Daily Wire‘s Ben Shapiro, sharing that she was developing a new project that would “take down the Death Star”.
Recently, however, Carano’s social media activity has been confusing Star Wars fans. Just a few weeks ago, she posted a photo featuring a planet that looked remarkably like Tatooine — except with three suns instead of two –, convincing many of her followers that she is actually returning to The Mandalorian Season 3.

Now, Carano has posted another confounding graphic. This time, the Las Vegas-raised actress shared a GIF of a figure that looked shockingly like Star Wars bounty hunter Cad Bane (Corey Burton).

While it is unknown if this post has anything to do with the Star Wars galaxy, or if it is connected to her upcoming sci-fi project, fans in the comments hilariously pointed out the resemblance to Bane — a character who ironically recently made his own Star Wars return in Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni’s latest effort, animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

While it is, of course, highly unlikely that Carano’s recent Twitter post has anything to do with Cad Bane in actuality, it is certainly amusing given the animated character’s recent connection to the larger Star Wars story.

It seems likely that Filoni will continue to use him as a major part of the continuing saga of first-generation Jango Fett clone Omega, Clone Force 99, Boba Fett, and Fennec Shand moving forward. You can currently catch new episodes of The Bad Batch on Disney+ every Friday.

There have also been numerous rumors that Bane could make his live-action debut in the upcoming Mandalorian spinoff series, The Book of Boba Fett, this December.
As for the daughter of NFL quarterback Glenn Carano, her return to the Star Wars galaxy is unlikely, despite her fans’ optimism. Lucasfilm has confirmed they will not recast Cara Dune and seem to have severed ties with the character, even halting the development of her spinoff show, Rangers of the New Republic.
