disneyland faces ticket linking issues for guests

As we get closer to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure’s grand reopening, tickets are going and gone. Simultaneously, reservations are getting all booked up.

However, it turns out that some Guests returning to the theme parks are having some ticket issues and issues with the Disneyland mobile app as well as the website. So, how will this issue affect Guests trying to join virtual queues when the parks reopen?

The Disneyland Resort and Cast Members are preparing to welcome their Guests back to the Happiest Place on Earth, but it turns out that Guests are already having some complications with their tickets.

Specifically, some Guests’ tickets are not linking to their Disney accounts within the app or on the Disneyland website.

One of the ways this issue may arise is in the ticket purchasing process. When one person purchases tickets for their group, and when they make a reservation for the theme parks using those tickets, the tickets are only linked to the Disney account of the person who purchased them. However, in order to make a boarding group reservation for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, your Disneyland ticket needs to be linked to your Disney account in your Disneyland mobile app. If not every person has their ticket linked to their Disney account, then they may have issues joining the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance, located inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park.

This Disneyland ticket issue that some are experiencing may complicate plans of getting a boarding group and joining the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance, since one must need a valid park ticket and reservation (both linked to their Disney account) in order to successfully join a boarding group through the Disneyland app.

It has been confirmed that this popular ride will still be using a virtual queue and boarding reservation system — and it’s very possible that other attractions could use the same format in the future.

So what do you do if you are someone whose ticket is not linking?

Well, although Disney does seem to be working on this issue, we can only hope it’s in time for reopening. The good news is that there are a few ways to resolve this issue if it is not fixed by the time of your visit.

Thanks to GothicRosie (@gothicrosie) on Instagram, she has shared a few tips to help Guests out if they have been having problems with their tickets. She explains to try the following:

  • The easiest way would be to ask for a new ticket at the gates or turnstiles. If you are scanning your Disney tickets through your mobile device when you visit Disneyland Park, then you will be given a paper ticket automatically upon entering. Then, you can use the Disneyland app to scan your paper ticket to your Disney account, therefore giving you the ability to attempt to join a boarding group.
  • If you have a paper ticket and it is not linking to your Disney account, visit City Hall and ask for a ticket reprint
  • Try visiting the Guest Relations counters, located on the left of each park. However, this could interfere with your boarding reservation, as you have to be inside Disneyland to make a Rise of the Resistance boarding group reservation. So, it is best to attempt to get to the theme parks as early as possible to resolve any ticket issues earlier in the day.

At this moment in time, the Disneyland Resort is still working on resolving this ticket issue for Guests. And this only applies to those who have tickets that won’t link to their Disney account in the mobile app or website. As mentioned, this may happen if someone purchased a theme park ticket and made a reservation for you, and you have not been able to link that ticket to your Disney account. Be sure to contact Disney with any questions.
