It’s official: Disney Cruise Line will be shut down for a full consecutive year as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes as the cruise line continues to remove sailings from its website. This time, they have officially removed all sailings through March 2021.

We at Inside the Magic confirmed the news by visiting Disney Cruise Line’s website:

Our team has been keeping an eye on Disney Cruise Line since it first suspended sailings in mid-March of this year. Since then, it has continued to suspend sailings as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continually extended its “No Sail” order.

The “No Sail” order was finally lifted on October 31, but the CDC made it clear that Disney Cruise Line and the cruising industry as a whole will need to meet numerous health and safety requirements in order to earn a “Conditional Sailing Certificate” and be able to get passengers back aboard their ships. These requirements include having to do a test cruise and working with the ports of call to ensure emergency protocols in case of an outbreak aboard the ship.

It is important to note that every ship in a cruise operator’s fleet will need its own “Conditional Sailing Certificate” — in Disney’s case, this means the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder will all have to obtain their own certifications.

Disney Cruise Line is in the process of returning its ships from Europe to Port Canaveral, Florida, and U.S. waters. The Disney Wonder and Disney Dream have already arrived home while the Disney Fantasy is currently en route. The Disney Magic has yet to leave dock in Dover, England.

Currently, the earliest available sailings are:

  • Disney Dream Friday, April 2, 2021, 3-Night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral
  • Disney Wonder Friday, April 2, 2021, 5-Night Baja Cruise from San Diego
  • Disney Magic Saturday, April 3, 2021, 5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise from Miami
  • Disney Fantasy  Saturday, April 3, 2021, 7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral

But even if Disney Cruise Line is able to set sail as early as April, it will only be able to host sailings that last seven nights or fewer. We at Inside the Magic reported that those sailings longer than a week are beginning to be removed from the Disney Cruise Line website.

It is clear, though, that Disney Cruise Line is in no hurry, putting passenger safety above all else, and we cannot wait until we can step back aboard out favorite cruise ships to safely enjoy the magic once again.

We at Inside the Magic will continue to keep our ears to the ground, updating our readers as more information comes to light.
