Carthay Circle Restaurant-mich

Disneyland Resort has just announced that Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure Park is accepting dining reservations again. And quickly after the announcement, hopeful Disneyland fans quickly filled up a virtual queue on the Disneyland Resort website, waiting to hopefully get a spot.

But here’s the interesting part of this: Carthay Circle Lounge is open for dining in Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. This section of the park is being treated as an extension of Downtown Disney right now. However, Disney California Adventure is still technically closed at the moment — no rides, no characters, no entertainment. The demand for Disneyland magic is definitely high right now because fans are continuing to wait for dining reservations at a theme park that is still not fully open.

Reservations at Cathay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining

Disney shared today via Twitter that Carthay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining is now accepting reservations.

Here’s the official announcement:

Beginning today, Guests visiting the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort can now book dining reservations on http://di.sn/6018HykKu or the Disneyland app for Carthay Circle Lounge –Alfresco Dining! Advance reservations are highly recommended.

But soon after the announcement was made on Twitter, the reservation website became so popular and Disneyland deleted the original Tweet.

Ahead of the reopening of Buena Vista Street on November 19, Disney announced that Carthay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining would be using a wailist-only system to accommodate Guests. That means that Guests needed to be inside Disney California Adventure in order to join a mobile waitlist for Carthay Circle. But now, the restaurant will be accepting advanced dining reservations again. Disney says reservations are highly recommended.

Reservations were so popular after the announcement that Guests needed to queue online in order to make reservations in advance. We visited the Disneyland Resort official website to hopefully make a reservation and realized that a virtual queue had built up so much that we would need to wait quite a while. There is so much traffic that this is the message the website displayed:

The Wait is Almost Over

Thank you for your continued patience! Due to high demand, this is taking longer than expected. We have a lot of Guests accessing our system, so you are now in a waiting room. Do not refresh or select the “back” button.

Dining reservations can now be made at select restaurants at the Downtown Disney District. Subject to availability.

But friends, patience is key here! After nearly a two-hour wait, we got a dinner reservation for December 16. Our biggest tips are do not refresh the page, and try for a weekday reservation a few weeks in advance.

If there are no available reservations, you will see a screen like this. But keep trying for different dates and times, and you may have some good luck!

About Carthay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining

In abiding by current health and safety regulations amid the ongoing pandemic, Carthay Circle is operating as Carthay Circle Lounge – Alfresco Dining, meaning that Guests can only eat outside at socially distanced tables. The restaurant menu has been changed for now, but that doesn’t stop Disney from providing some delectable grub. Guests can dine on Mediterranean-style dishes in an open environment with views of Buena Vista Street. What more could you ask for?
