As many Disney Parks Guests know, all visitors are required to wear an appropriate face covering while on Disney property.

The Disneyland Resort reopened its shopping and dining center, the Downtown Disney District, on July 9, 2020. Later, on November 19, 2020, Disney opened Buena Vista Street inside Disney California Adventure as an extension of Downtown Disney operations. So, although Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park — as well as the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa — are still temporarily closed during the current pandemic, face masks have been required for all Guests ages two and up ever since Downtown Disney reopened in July 2020.

The official Disneyland Resort face mask guidelines read:

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up), Cast Members and Operating Participant employees, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times. You may remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.
All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

  • Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
  • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.

Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:

  • Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
  • Meet all face covering requirements listed above

The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Disneyland Resort’s face mask policy is identical to the policy in place at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Over at the Most Magical Place on Earth, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopened on July 11, 2020, and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopened on July 15, 2020. Note that visiting any public location — including the Disney World theme parks or Disneyland Resort property — during the ongoing pandemic poses its own health risks. Read the full COVID-19 warning from the Disneyland website below:

We have taken enhanced health and safety measures—for you, our other Guests and Cast Members. You must follow all posted instructions while visiting the Disneyland Resort.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

By visiting the Disneyland Resort, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Help keep each other healthy.

The Downtown Disney District reopened at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California on Thursday, July 9, 2020, the same day Walt Disney World hosted its first day of Annual Passholder previews. Disneyland’s theme parks were originally scheduled to reopen for the resort’s 65th Anniversary on July 17, 2020, and two of the onsite hotels were originally scheduled to reopen on July 23, but the reopening of the parks and hotels has since been delayed.

Right now, it remains unclear when Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park — as well as the three onsite hotels of the Disneyland Resort and the Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa — will reopen. However, Disney officials, including the theme park resort’s president Ken Potrock, remain hopeful that a reopening is on the horizon.
