World of Disney Uses Virtual Queue System on Reopening Day

This morning, the wait to get into World of Disney at Disney Springs was well over three hours long. But to combat this, Disney started utilizing a virtual queue system to make sure guests had their chance to shop without having to wait possibly the longest World of Disney line ever.

We are here on the scene today to experience the reopening of three Disney-owned and operated locations at Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs: World of Disney, the Marketplace Co-op, and D-Luxe Burger.

Both the World of Disney store and the Marketplace Co-Op are the two Disney-owned retail locations that are officially open today, and both stores are utilizing a virtual queue system for guests who don’t want to wait in the hours-long line. But this virtual queue system is not like the one integrated into the Walt Disney World Resort app, My Disney Experience. Instead, it is a typical, more widespread method of allowing guests to hold their place in line.

All you have to do is head to the front of the store (World of Disney or the Marketplace Co-Op), speak with a Cast Member holding an iPad, and give them the information for your party (such as the number of guests and the initials of the main person of contact) and your phone number. You will then receive a text message that immediately notifies you that you have been registered for a place in line. You will receive another text message when a Cast Member is ready to assist you, i.e. when it is your turn to enter either Disney Springs store.

Keep in mind, though, that there was even a line to speak to a Cast Member to join the virtual queue just after 10 a.m. We don’t expect this to be common on every day at Disney Springs, though. Today, so many of us eager guests just want our chance to get back into the magic.

Guests started lining up to get into World of Disney just past 8 a.m. Half an hour before the World of Disney store officially reopened, the line to enter stretched all the way to Disney Days of Christmas. By 10:30 a.m., it had stretched all the way across Disney Springs property.
