Local Authorities Investigating Woman’s Jump from Disney World Hotel

Editor’s Note: When we initially reported this incident, the woman reportedly fell from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Soon after, local authorities stated that they believe the guest may have jumped. We have since updated this article’s headline and the language throughout.

A guest was reportedly seen falling from Disney’s Contemporary Resort today at around 4 p.m. EST. The incident is currently under investigation.

Right after the incident, Walt Disney World Resort guests took to social media to report heavy police and Reedy Creek Fire Department presence at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

One Twitter user stated, “We saw someone fall from the hotel. I didn’t personally witness it. My mother in law was with me on the monorail, and she claims she saw it (and gasped), but I was looking down.”

It is being reported that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office believes this was a suicide. The woman was reported dean on scene, and authorities currently believe she may have jumped from the hotel. No other information is available at this time, including which floor she may have jumped from.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the oldest resorts on Walt Disney World property. it opened the day Disney World first opened to the public on October 1, 1971. It is comprised of two parts: Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower, which is the Disney Vacation Club building. It is located within walking distance of Magic Kingdom — the flagship Disney World theme park — and it is one of the resorts on the monorail loop.
