Disney Imagineer and Portfolio Creative Executive, Scott Trowbridge, delivered some new information about the Star Wars Hotel at a media conference that took place on December 5, and we are here to dish everything we know!
It’s no secret Disney is king when it comes to storytelling. Well, Trowbridge spilled some Batuuian beans about the immersive, story-driven experience that will take place when you board your adventure in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel.
The Story-Driven Experience
In the recent media event, Trowbridge shared some exciting details with the audience. Here’s what he shared:
“Our guests who are part of the Galactic Starcruiser experience can think of the Starcruiser as a Star Wars space version for a cruise ship with ports of call including to the planet Batuu, but it is also a story-driven experience where you are invited to go as deep as you want… So your stories from the Galactic Starcruiser will influence what happens to you on your planetary visit and your stories of what you do on the planet will follow you back to the ship.”
So, it appears that the Star Wars: Starcruiser Hotel experiences will be highly personalized, contingent on the decisions passengers make when onboard the ship and how those play out in their unique stories when they step off the ship and on to Galaxy’s Edge.

What’s really unique about this experience is that these stories will carry over from the hotel to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios; or Batuu as guests will know it during their adventure. Disney hasn’t revealed how they will track these cause and effect moments for galactic travelers. However, we all know if anyone knows how to pull off this kind of magic, it’s Disney!
What we know so far about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel Experience
So far, we know that this will be a very unique and exclusive experience, with a matching price tag. We also know it will consist of a multi-day adventure that will include a port day to the planet of Batuu, where guests will continue their Star Wars story, and we know that the projected opening date will happen sometime in 2021; a MASSIVE year for the Walt Disney World resort as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
