Heads up, Walt Disney World visitors. Booking FastPass+ reservations may be getting a whole lot harder…especially for attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

According to a recent report by Chip and Co., the FastPass+ tiers for attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be significantly changing once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens this August. The report shares that beginning August 29, all rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be considered Tier 1 and all shows at the theme park will be considered Tier 2.

If you’re unfamiliar with the tiered FastPass+ system for Walt Disney World theme park attractions, let us catch you up to speed. Of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World, three of them (Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom) have what is known as a tiered FastPass+ system. This means that these theme parks have categorized their attractions into different tiers which only allow park guests to select a specific combination of each while prohibiting the combination of each park’s more popular (Tier 1) attractions. Tier 1 are each park’s most popular and newer attractions, and Tier 2 is the older and not as high foot-traffic attractions.

Currently, the Tier 1 attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania, and Alien Swirling Saucers. It’s no surprise that the current Tier 1 attractions are all located in the newest land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Toy Story Land), and it’s clear that the changes to the FastPass tiers are taking place because of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening soon.

Should this new change take effect on August 29 as we believe it likely will, guests will only be able to select a FastPass+ in advance for one ride and two shows. Disney’s Hollywood Studios may not have nearly as many attractions as Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom, but changing the FastPass+ system so that guests can only book a FastPass+ reservation for one attraction and two shows instead of three attractions total may throw a wrench in fans’ vacation plans. Given this, it’s hard to believe that attractions like Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n Rollercoaster are ranked as high on guests’ list of must-dos as Slinky Dog Dash and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, when the latter two attractions are of course much newer to guests.

What do you think of the possible new change coming to the FastPass+ system at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Let us know in the comments!
