If you’re a Disneyland Cast Member or employee, you’re in luck. Disney just made one of the best announcements yet, and we’re so excited to share this with you.

Disney just announced on Thursday that the company is starting a new childcare assistance program for Cast Members and employees of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. The program, which will spend around $10 million per year, will be rolled out during fall 2019 for both full-time and part-time employees and Cast Members of Disneyland Resort who have children 12 years old or younger.

“Over the course of the past year, I’ve frequently talked about three priorities for our business: putting our Cast first; supporting our community; and being innovative in our commercial efforts. I call these the three Cs, and it is no coincidence that I always list Cast first,” said Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro in the program’s announcement.

From what we can tell, this program is evidence of Disney putting Cast Members first. Disneyland officials also shared that the new $10 million in childcare assistance will amplify the resort’s existing programs for employees and Cast Members, such as “backup care,” assistance in obtaining referrals to childcare, parenting educational resources, and homework help.

“Making quality child care more accessible and affordable is the latest addition to a growing package of innovative programs that reflect our ongoing commitment to expand opportunities and improve the lives of our cast members,” said The Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger. He continued, “As with our Disney Aspire education initiative, my hope is that everyone who can benefit from this support will take full advantage of it.”

As Iger noted, this new $10 million childcare assistance program is not unlike the Disney Aspire initiative, a program which provides free education for Disney Cast Members and employees who are looking to obtain their college degrees or other certifications. We hope to see even more beneficial programs like Disney Aspire and childcare assistance in the future.
