Avengers: Endgame three hours

If you thought “Avengers: Infinity War” made it big in the box office, you haven’t seen anything yet. The final installment in this era of Marvel films, “Avengers: Endgame,” is reportedly on track to break box office records, and we can’t say we’re surprised.

Movieweb reports that while any film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is met with intense hype and excitement, there’s something that will set “Avengers: Endgame” apart from the rest. The film is the finale to everything that has happened thus far in the MCU, and with some help from an early premiere date in China, “Avengers: Endgame” is predicted to have the biggest worldwide box office opening ever when it premieres in late April.

That’s right: although “Avengers: Endgame” won’t hit theaters in the U.S. until April 26, the film is premiering in China two days earlier, giving it a head start on its opening weekend. This is a perk that Marvel didn’t have when “Infinity War” premiered last year, but that didn’t stop the film from setting the global box office opening record with $640.4 million. With an early premiere in China giving “Avengers: Endgame” a leg up on the box office before its domestic debut, it’s hardly arguable for “Endgame” to not break its predecessor’s record and make over $800 million within the opening weekend.

Marvel films have historically done well in the box office, both domestically and internationally. With the ability to garner new fans to the film franchise and attract interest from comic book lovers and movie buffs, the Marvel Cinematic Universe team is doing something right when it comes to filmmaking. And because of all of the excitement, fan theories, and year-long buildup to the finale of the current MCU era, it’s no wonder “Avengers: Endgame” is predicted to be the biggest MCU installment yet. As Movieweb points out, “Avengers: Infinity War” is one of only four films to have ever surpassed $2 million at the box office, and it doesn’t seem that anyone would be surprised if “Endgame” became the fifth movie on that list.

Hardly anything has been revealed of “Avengers: Endgame”‘s plot, and given the vague film trailers and countless fan theories, it would seem that even longtime fans of the Marvel comics may be surprised by the events that will transpire in the upcoming film. We’ll have to wait until April 26 to see it, but one thing’s for sure: the hype isn’t going to die down anytime soon.
