Looking for some fun activities during your stay at Walt Disney World Resort hotels? You’re in luck because Disney shared details on new pirate and mermaid experiences, art programs, and fishing excursions around the resort. Don’t worry, there’s also an option for those who just want to kick back and relax while on vacation. Below, learn more about each of the new offerings at Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Young swashbucklers aged 4 – 12 can take part in pirate feasting and treasure seeking. Here’s how Disney describes the experience:

The new Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort teaches youngsters pirate ways, and lets them follow clues that will lead to hidden treasure and being named to Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew. Armed with clues, young buccaneers will comb through the resort and set sail on a pontoon boat around Crescent Lake, in the latest seafaring adventure at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Once the treasure is unearthed, all join in a Pirate feast that includes selections such as Cannon Meatballs with marinara or macaroni and “gold” sauce for entrees, along with a treasure chest treat or fruit for dessert.

This experience begins on April 28 and costs $55 per child plus tax. To book a reservation, call 407-824-KIDS.

Mermaid School

Guests aged 4 and older can learn how to flip their fins just like Ariel! Mermaid School is offered on select dates at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. During the hour-long class, guests will be fitted with a swimmable “tail” and participate in activities to learn how to swim like a mermaid. Classes cost $50 per person; bookings open in mid-March and you can call 407-WDW-PLAY to reserve a spot.

Art Programs

Take part in all-new master classes led by professional artists. Classes range from $35 (plus tax) to $50 (plus tax) per person, and most experiences are offered to guests aged 12 and up.

Here’s the lineup, courtesy of Disney:

  • Win, Paint, Show at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Wild About Painting, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Painting on de’ Bayou (adults), Painting by the Lagoon (kids), Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort. NOTE: children’s painting class is $30 per person (plus tax); designed for ages 6 and older; accompanying parent required.
  • Painting in the Vineyard, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
  • Canvas and Wine Glass Painting on the Boards, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

These classes take place on select dates depending on the resort. To book a class, call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Fishing Excursions

Fishing can be fun for guests of all ages, and a new NITRO ZV21 has joined the fleet operating out of the Magic Kingdom marinas. “Aboard a 21-foot SunTracker pontoon (up to five guests) or a tournament-style NITRO bass-fishing boat (for one or two participants), teeming Disney waters are an angler’s dream,” Disney says. These 2- or 4-hour outings are catch-and-release. To learn more or book a reservation, call 407-WDW-BASS.
