An extremely generous restaurant owner in Raleigh, North Carolina made dreams come true for dozens of her employees and their families by taking them on a trip to Walt Disney World.

According to WRAL, State Farmers Market Restaurant employees had been hearing gossip in the kitchen of a possible once-in-a-lifetime trip to Walt Disney World for themselves and their families. “We were told we’d be going to Disney World, and of course nobody believed it,” said Jasmine Kamel, an employee.

What employees heard was that Gypsy Gilliam, owner of State Farmers Market Restaurant, was going to gather the employees and take them all on a trip to Walt Disney World after Christmas.

“I did not believe it,” said Jessica Burr, another employee. “I thought it was crazy.”

To the delight of the restaurant’s workers, the rumor happened to be true! WRAL reports that last week, Gilliam closed the restaurant for a few days and took about 20 employees and their families to Orlando, Florida to experience Walt Disney World.

“It was so amazing. I cried a couple of times,” said Kamel in an interview with WRAL News. “I could cry right now. I don’t think she’ll ever understand how grateful we are for what she did for us.”

According to employee Nelson Ellison, Gilliam made sure her 50 or more guests didn’t have to worry about a thing. “The room, the board, the food, the rides — everything was free for us.”

“I have a 5-year-old son,” added Burr. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I know this is something I wouldn’t be able to do for him. I am forever grateful to Gypsy, and I don’t have any idea how to pay her back.”

Gilliam spared no expense with this larger-than-life trip for her employees, which Ellison, an employee of Gilliam for 15 years, said they already paid the restaurant owner back for, with their happiness. “She just enjoyed seeing us happy,” he said.

In an interview with WRAL, Gilliam told the news outlet that there would be no restaurant without her staff. She said she wanted to show her appreciation, adding that she was “blessed to be able to give them a little magic in their lives.”
