The future is female, right? Well, according to a new Disney+ series, the future president sure is. The Walt Disney Company has just given a 10 episode straight-to-series order to “Diary of a Female President,” and we can’t wait to hear all the details.

Deadline reports the new series, which is created and written by Ilana Peña, is narrated from the perspective of a 12-year-old Cuban-American girl’s diary as she navigates the ups and downs of middle school. Sounds relatable, right? We think so too, but it doesn’t stop there. Our narrator is telling her story as she journeys to becoming President of the United States. By the sounds of it, the show will be charming, empowering, and a step in the right direction for representation and female empowerment.

Peña (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) will executive produce the series alongside Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”) and Emily Gipson. Robin Shorr (“The Carmichael Show”) will also serve as executive producer and showrunner.

“Diary of a Female President” will be made for Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service, which is set to launch later this year. And while we are definitely excited to watch this new series, it isn’t the only show being developed for the streaming service. Previously, we’ve reported that Disney is currently developing multiple Marvel series for Disney+. The streaming service will also offer some of The Walt Disney Company’s top film releases of 2019, including family-friendly flicks like “Dumbo” and “Toy Story 4,” as well as some film remakes that will premiere on the service, like “Sister Act.” With everything from action and comedy films to kid-friendly shows, it looks like Disney+ will be consumers’ one-stop shop for all things Disney entertainment. We just hope we can keep up!

Which new series or film are you most excited to watch on Disney+ once the new streaming service launches in late 2019? Let us know in the comments!
