Top 7 Must-Eat Items at Disneyland Park

in Disneyland Resort, Food

Churros

Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA has enough variety of meals and snacks to satisfy any appetite. We thought ranking Disneyland Resort restaurants and California Adventure foods was difficult, but this list may have been the most challenging yet. Here are seven must-eat items at Disneyland Park.

7. Raspberry rose macaron

The raspberry rose macaron is one of the most photogenic and delicious desserts on property. Fresh raspberries and rose cream sandwiched between two macaron cookies, this Mickey-shaped dessert is sold exclusively at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café on the corner of Main Street, USA. This quick service location is perhaps the best place to get a sweet treat at Disneyland. No, it’s not the Candy Palace, but it serves up some of the most unique snacks and dishes that you can’t find anywhere else on property. Try this (and take a picture) the next time you’re in the park, and let us know what you think.

6. Gumbo

Gumbo in Southern California? How good could it be? But trust us, this stuff is delicious. New Orleans Square is filled with some of the tastiest dishes in all of Disneyland, and the gumbo is no exception. Available vegetarian or non-vegetarian, this New Orleans specialty is served year round and delectable no matter the weather (but certainly tastes the best on a chilly fall or winter evening). You can order this decadent gumbo at the quick service location Royal Street Veranda and at the table service locations Café Orleans and Blue Bayou.

5. Dole Whip

A tart Dole Whip on a hot summer day in Adventureland, what more could you ask for? The Dole Whip may be the most talked about Disney treat, but it’s for good reason. This dairy-free soft serve has been at the top of guests’ favorite snack lists for decades, and we can’t get enough of it. Some Disney snacks are worth waiting for, and Dole Whip is definitely one of them.

4. Pommes frites

The pommes frites from Café Orleans may be the best french fries we’ve ever tasted, and it just so happens they’re available in New Orleans Square. It’s no surprise that these are on our list of the top Disneyland eats because they are a must-order item more often than not. These are thin and crispy french fries topped with parmesan cheese, garlic, and parsley and served with a size of Cajun spice remoulade. Order an extra side of dipping sauce because that may be the best part of this dish.

3. Monte Cristo sandwich

The Monte Cristo is possibly one of the most iconic and famous foods served at Disneyland. While it has been described as a meat-and-cheese-filled donut, this decadent sandwich is so much more than that. The Monte Cristo is consists of dough filled with layers of turkey, ham, and swiss cheese, fried to a golden crisp, dusted with powdered sugar, and served with a berry puree spread. It can also be made vegetarian and gluten-free, so there are options for more than just the meat lover in your party. This sweet-savory combo is available at both Café Orleans and Blue Bayou, and the serving is enough to feed two people (or more, if you all want to sample).

2. Fried chicken

This was Walt’s favorite meal in Disneyland, so it’s a no-brainer for us to rank it pretty high on our list. Fried chicken is perhaps the ultimate Disneyland comfort food. Served at both Plaza Inn and Carnation Café, this dish is just as delectable as when Walt ate it. At Plaza Inn during lunch and dinner, the quick service restaurant serves a massive (and definitely shareable) plate of fried chicken quarters with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a buttermilk biscuit. At Carnation Café during lunch and dinner, the table service restaurant serves fried chicken breasts with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and country gravy. The Plaza Inn chicken may be the more famous of the two, but Carnation Café is one of the most charming places to eat at Disneyland, so you can’t go wrong no matter where you try this signature dish.

1. Churros

Disneyland churros are in a league of their own. Fried to perfection and coated with a sweet cinnamon-sugar topping, there is nothing more perfect at any time of day than the Disneyland churro. The classic churro will always be our favorite, but the recent trend of flavored churros has us wanting more. Churro carts throughout Disneyland Resort have been serving up a variety of churro flavors with each passing season, from fruit-flavored sugar to pumpkin-spice batter to even a decadent s’mores coating. Pro tip: you can order a classic churro with extra cinnamon sugar. We promise this will change your life for the better.
