Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort announces temporary closure due to Hurricane Florence

In preparation for Hurricane Florence, expected to make landfall on Friday, September 14, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort announced it will close starting on Tuesday, September 11. It’s expected to remain closed through Wednesday, September 19 (Updated from the prior report stating it would be closed through Monday).

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, located in Hilton Head, South Carolina, is among the areas affected by the upcoming hurricane. According to CNN, more than 1 million people are facing evacuation in coastal regions of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia as Hurricane Florence moves closer to shore. Tropical-storm-force winds should reach North Carolina and South Carolina by Thursday morning, with hurricane-force winds possibly arriving by Thursday night. Hurricane Florence is currently a Category 4 storm.

Disney posted the following message on their website:

Due to Hurricane Florence, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort will be closed through Wednesday, September 19. Please continue to check back for updates.

From June 1 to November 30, in the event a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area, Vero Beach area, Hilton Head Island, Oʻahu or for the Member’s place of residence within 7 days before the scheduled arrival date, the Member may call Member Services at (800) 800-9800 or (407) 566-3800 prior to Check-In to cancel or reschedule, based upon availability, their Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation without any cancellation or modification penalty.
