Top 10 Walt Disney World Drinks: adult adventure and resort relaxation await

in Disney, Theme Parks, Walt Disney World

Vacation is all about relaxing and enjoying time off!  A trip to the world’s most famous resort is no exception, and these top ten Walt Disney World drinks are here to help.

Which brilliant beverages are best? From among the many themed bars and watering holes at the Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida, we’ve gathered a list of lovely libations most likely to please the adult palate.

For pour judgement assistance, the fine folks at the Poor Judgement Crew (a group of over 700 adult beverage experts and enthusiasts) aided with adult beverage bests.  Libations are listed in order of popularity (low to high) based on the number of times a favored flavor finds its way into a reply from group members.

Tied for 10 through 8, the following Disney drinks show diverse delights from around the Florida resort:

Shrunken Zombie Head – Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is a must-visit for its immersive (and some times sub-mersive) atmosphere.  This spooky special mug is filled with Gosling’s 151 Black Seal Rum, Appleton Estate Reserve Rum, Bacardi 8-year Rum, Tropical Juices, Falernum, and Cinnamon.  Plus, strange things happen in the bar when this fiendishly fun drink is served.

Peach Tree Downs – Part of the Disney Springs Bourbon Trail, this peach-mint julep combines Knob Creek Bourbon and Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey for a unique twist on this old-fashioned front-runner.  Find this favorite at the Edison in Disney Springs.

Red Stag Lemonade – By infusing frozen lemonade with Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon, Epcot’s Fife & Drum Tavern offers an excellent and enticing way to cool off.

Also tied with the same level of favoritism are these colorfully cool collection of Disney drinks, taking up spots 7 to 4.

HippopotoMai-Tai – Whimsically themed Trader Sams Grog Grotto (Polynesian Village Resort) is filled with drink delights, including this one.  Expertly mixed Coruba Dark Rum, Bacardi Superior Rum, Bols Orange Curaçao, Orgeat (Almond), Organic Agave Nectar, and fresh Lime Juice arrives in a take-home tiki glass.

Backscratcher – Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort serves perhaps the most practical drink around.  This blend of Meyer’s Original Dark Rum, Bacardi Superior Rum, Jack Daniel’s, and passion fruit juice (with cherry and lemon on top) is served with an actual namesake backscratcher in the glass!

Bedtime Story – “Indiana Jones” themed Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar serves this mix of Absolut Mandrin Vodka, Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur, Hibiscus Syrup, fresh Lemon Juice, and Iced Tea on ice or frozen.

Krakatoa Punch – Another Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto (Polynesian Village Resort) specialty served in a tiki glass overflowing with “lava.”  This adult beverage consists of Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Pyrat XO Reserve Rum, Orgeat (Almond), Sam’s Gorilla Grog, and Hibiscus Grenadin.

In the top three tier of tipsy treasures are a trio of adult beverages from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, Disney Springs and Disney’s Polynesian Resort Village.

3. Kungaloosh – Adventurers rejoice! The fabled favorite (strawberry daiquiri mix, orange juice, spiced rum and blackberry brandy) is available at Dockside Margaritas (for Throwback Thursdays) at Disney Springs.

2. High Tower Rocks – When at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, drop in at the Nomad Lounge for this combination of Casa Dragones Blanco Tequila, watermelon, lime juice and sweet-n-sour.

1. Lapu-Lapu – A treat found at Tambu Lounge, Kona Café’ and ‘Ohana (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) and served in pineapple, this tropical mix of fruit juice, Myers’s Original Dark Rum and Bacardi 151 is also available dry for those under 21.

Our friends at Poor Judgment Crew must spend a lot of time at Disney’s Polynesian Village resort, as half of these sumptuous selections can be found at the tropical-themed resort.  This is, of course, well within reason as the Polynesian is home to wonderfully wacky Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.  This small in size, but large in adventurous fun, bar is well stocked with whimsical drinks, many of which arrive in souvenir tiki glasses (the Nautilus is a personal favorite).  Hidden surprises and zany antics from service staff make Trader Sam’s the next best thing to Pleasure Island’s long-gone Adventures Club.

With a raise of the glass and heartfelt appreciation to the Poor Judgment Crew members who helped craft this list of libations, a hearty toast: KUNGALOOSH!  Interested adult beverage aficionados can find the PJC on Twitter.

With these top ten treasures of liquid gold, resort relaxation is easily achieved.  Please enjoy responsibly.
