Artist Keith Lapinig has found a new way to experience Disneyland through his creative Disney silhouettes.

Lapinig uses paper cardstock to cut out Disney characters and scenes, then photographs them interacting with the scenery at Disneyland. His work takes inspiration from films like “Pocahontas,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Inside Out,” “Up,” and more. He also recreates moments from Disneyland’s past, adding Walt Disney and the Skyway back into the picture.

His first piece was Maleficent towering over Sleeping Beauty Castle (pictured above). “It was my test subject to see if I was even capable of making this series. Once I realized it was, I’ve been pumping out more and more because they’re so much fun to make,” he told “Good Morning America.”

According to Lapinig, some skeptics think the Disney silhouettes have been digitally added to photographs, but the pictures were all created on location at Disneyland using paper cardstock. “I believe the presence of my hand is a big part of the final piece, to show that I didn’t just Photoshop a black silhouette into any photograph,” he said.

Though he’s only taken photographs at Disneyland so far, Lapinig hopes to expand to other Disney Parks around the world in the future.
