UPDATE: Yesterday’s reports of the Star Wars spinoff movies being put on hold have been qualified as “inaccurate” by sources from Lucasfilm.

As reported by ABC News, there are still “multiple” Star Wars films currently being developed that have not yet been announced. Those projects continue to move forward, separate from “Episode IX” and a new series of movies from “Game of Thrones” producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: We may be waiting a bit longer than we expected for the long-rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi and the more recently hinted-at Boba Fett standalone films “Star Wars” fans have been anticipating if they ever do see the light of day. Lucasfilm has reportedly put a hold on developing their Star Wars spinoff movies for the immediate future.

According to an exclusive story in Collider, Lucasfilm has “pressed pause” on the development of these films more minor than a month after disappointing earnings from “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” which did not meet parent company Disney’s expectations, especially after Lucasfilm’s last “Star Wars” spinoff, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” performed much better at the box office.

The report further asserts that the previously rumored Obi-Wan movie was in active development, but those attached to the movie are no longer working on it. It is worth noting that neither the Obi-Wan Kenobi film nor the more recently surfaced Boba Fett film has been officially announced by Lucasfilm.

The move is reportedly being made so that the studio can focus its full attention on the upcoming “Episode IX” title directed by J.J. Abrams and the future of the Star Wars franchise beyond that, including a new trilogy overseen by “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson.

“Star Wars: Episode IX” is currently slated to hit theaters December 20, 2019.
