Colin Trevorrow to direct “Jurassic World 3,” confirms producer Steven Spielberg

Colin Trevorrow is returning to the director’s chair for the third “Jurassic World” installment, confirms executive producer Steven Spielberg.

Trevorrow co-wrote and directed “Jurassic World” (2015), which rebooted the beloved “Jurassic Park” franchise and earned $1.67 billion worldwide. He also penned the script for the upcoming second installment, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” with his writing partner Derek Connolly. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” was directed by J.A. Bayona.

“Colin Trevorrow is going write and direct the third “Jurassic World” story,” Spielberg told Entertainment Weekly. Spielberg will once again serve as executive producer.

As previously announced, Trevorrow is collaborating with Emily Carmichael (“Pacific Rim: Uprising”) for the third “Jurassic World” script, based on a story by Trevorrow and Connolly.

“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” arrives in theaters on June 22, 2018, while “Jurassic World 3” is due on June 11, 2021.
