Star Wars star Mark Hamill has been portraying Luke Skywalker for over forty years, having recently returned to the role in the live-action-movies “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (for a scant few moments) and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” And now he’s stepped behind the microphone to voice a younger version of Luke in an installment of the official animated webseries “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.”

This “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” episode, entitled “The Path Ahead,” takes place during the events of “The Empire Strikes Back” and fills in a brief gap during Luke’s training with Yoda on the planet Dagobah.

In the short above, we see Luke first don that famous blue backpack and carry Yoda through the trees of Dagobah, as the wise Jedi Master imparts some invaluable advice to his Padawan learner. Unlike Luke, however, Yoda is not voiced by his original performer Frank Oz, but by voice actor Tom Kane, who portrayed the famous character in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

Oddly, up until now “Star Wars: Forces of Destiny” has mostly focused on the female heroes of Star Wars. In fact, three other new shorts were released today, starring the characters Jyn Erso, Princess Leia, and Rose Tico.
