Beginning last year, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Burbank, California has been making an effort to draw in the huge Southern California Halloween and horror fanbase that makes the neighboring Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights such a huge success. Warner’s “Horror Made Here – A Festival of Frights” is a far smaller-scale event, but it still offers guests an entertaining evening of movie-based scares.

“Horror Made Here” begins in the tourist-friendly Stage 48, where attendees can walk among a museum-quality display of props and costumes from Warner Bros. films throughout the past century, including a new section devoted to the horror movies “IT,” “The Conjuring 2,” and “Annabelle: Creation.”

Guests are then escorted onto the historic Warner Bros. backlot for the evening, where the walk-through Neibolt House (formerly located at Hollywood and Vine) from “IT” has been reconstructed. Also available are short but effective attractions based on “The Conjuring” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” plus the “IT” virtual reality experience, among other amenities such as food trucks, merchadise vendors, and a live DJ.

Another featured highlight of the evening is the the world-famous Warner Bros. Studio Tour, which offers participants the opportunity to see iconic locations from hundreds of famous films, plus added bonus seasonal content from “True Blood,” “Pretty Little Liars,” and “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” Unfortunately no video was allowed in the above listed walk-through attractions or on the tour, but the directors of the event gave a good rundown of what fans can expect with their tickets.

Overall I thought “Horror Made Here” was an evening well spent, although I think it still needs a few years to grow into its own identity. As of right now it’s well worth the admission cost for anyone who hasn’t done the tram-based Studio Tour before, or for those who missed the Neibolt House during its time in Hollywood. There are plenty of other neat effects scattered through the main area as well, but don’t expect quite as much to do as you’d have at Halloween Horror Nights. For an event still in its infancy, however, it makes for a fun night out.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood’s “Horror Made Here – A Festival of Frights” runs on select dates from now through October 28th. Be sure to visit the event’s official website for more information and advance ticket sales resources.
