Disney is making it a little easier to have a cinema-quality experience at home.

Director James Gunn announced on Facebook that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is going to be the first Disney movie released in 4K and HDR. The movie was filmed using Red’s 8K Weapon camera, state-of-the-art  equipment allowing for extremely detailed imagery on any shot.

4K, or Ultra HD, refers to a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, which is four times the number of pixels in a standard HD television. While it’s ideal for large TVs, Ultra HD improves picture quality on all screens. As Gunn said, “4K UltraHD is almost certainly the best way you can see this movie at home – with more definition and the most vibrant colors possible on your home screen, and with the brightest brights and the blackest blacks. A being composed of light truly appears to be a being composed of light!”

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will also have a 3D home release.

An official announcement from Marvel and Disney is expected soon.
