in Food

Winner of the best new restaurant in 2015, Jacksonville’s Goozlepipe and Guttyworks is a must visit!  The mouthwatering menu, countless collection of craft beers and coppery steam punk décor make for a divine dining experience. This staple in the Riverside area of town (just outside of the city proper) boasts 1000 different beers with 204 of them on tap (poured from an intricate copper contraption -tap- that is the envy of many a steampunk adventurer)

“At home in a three level, 100 year old building, Goozlepipe and Guttyworks is part of three dining destinations: Kickbacks Gatropub, Goozlepipe & Guttyworks, and The Belgian Basement.  “The new building includes our expanded bar, new kitchen, a main dining room with mezzanine seating and a stage, a Belgian inspired basement and a covered outdoor patio.   The main dining room has the feel of a steampunk museum featuring sculptures from Jim Smith, paintings and murals by Grant Thornton and blacksmithing from David Ponsler…all friends and local artists.  1.1 million pennies provide the backdrop for the artwork, all hand glued, installed in just over 8,000 labor hours over a 10 month period.”-Kickbacks/Goozlepipe & Guttyworks website.

In addition to one of the largest beer selections in the world, this gastropub has food that is to die for. From amazing appetizers like Poutine, Austin City Style Bacon Jam Fries, Lincoln Log Lumpia and Roasted Shrimp dip to sandwiches like a Krispy Kreme Ground Bacon Burger, David Ponsler Thor Burger ( A half-pound ground beef patty & a half pound ground bacon patty, interwoven with swiss cheese, feta cheese, pepper jack cheese & yellow American cheese, roasted poblano chili peppers, pepperoncini peppers, roasted onions, pickled green tomato, fresh red tomato, aged salami, lettuce, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale stone ground mustard, creole remoulade, bacon & a Krispy Kreme doughnut.), Monte Cristo, and Fat Julian –  the diverse dining delights offer something for every palate (the beer cheese soup is sensational).

Entrée’s at Goozlepipes & Guttyworks are equally enticing.  They even offer “vintage” comfort food like SpagheetiO’s, Fluffernuter Sandwiches, and Hamburger helper.  Open 20 hours a day, breakfast is also served; the breakfast menu is just a diversely delicious.  Decadent desserts include oreo balls, Funnel Cake Fries, Beignets, and Deep Fried Anything/Everything.
