A sea lion who was suffering from domoic acid poisoning was picked up in Oceanside, California on Tuesday, and on Wednesday she gave birth to an adorable pup. Domoic acid poisoning occurs when too much of the algae that accumulates on shellfish is consumed and it causes lethargy, disorientation, and seizures.
Luckily, mom is recovering and baby is doing well. The SeaWorld San Diego animal care team is providing round-the-clock care until the baby can be reunited with her mother.
