Disney’s Holidays around the World: Morocco

Morocco, as a Muslim country, does not officially celebrate Christmas. Though, many of the French traditions of this December holiday can still be found around the country (as, at one time, Morocco was French Protectorate).  Yennayer or New Year’s Eve, however, is observed and celebrated around the country (though it is celebrated on January 12-15 in some parts).  One tradition this time of year, is to spend the night in the desert to welcome the new year.
