American Star Wars fans, you may want avoid the Internet on December 15. That’s because fellow fans in the UK will be able to see “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” a day earlier than in the USA.

The release for last year’s “The Force Awakens” was the same as well, also arriving in UK theaters 24 hours before US theaters began screening it.

“Rogue One,” the second Star Wars movie since Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion almost four years ago, is also the first ever Star Wars standalone film, centering on the plans to steal the blueprints for the Death Star leading up the events of 1977’s “A New Hope”.

In just 11 days, the final trailer for the heavily-anticipated movie starring Felicity Jones as the mercenary Jyn Erso has racked up almost 14 million views.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, “Rogue One” also stars Diego Luna (Captain Cassian Andor), Ben Mendelsohn (Director Orson Krennic), Donnie Yen (Chirrut Îmwe), Donnie Yen (K-2SO), Riz Ahmed (Bodhi Rook), with Jiang Wen (Baze Malbus) and Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera).

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” arrives in U.S. theaters December 16 (finally) in 3D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D.
