Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

J.K. Rowling has always been an author heavily involved with all of our fans and she is now sending out a important message to the Potter fan base “not to spoil” her latest venture, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The new play will start preview performances this week at the London’s Palace Theatre and the passionate author wanted to make sure that this message came across to fans by posting a video on the Cursed Child’s YouTube account.

“You’ve been amazing for years at keeping Harry Potter secrets so you didn’t spoil the books for readers who came after you,” she said. “So I’m asking you one more time to keep secrets and let audiences enjoy Cursed Child with all the surprises we’ve built into the story. Thank you.”

The plot of the new play has so far remained very mysterious with the plot synopsis at the official Pottermore site revealing very few details.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The new play, divided into two parts due to the “epic nature of the story”, is written by Jack Thorne in collaboration with J.K. Rowling and directed by Olivier and Tony award-winner John Tiffany.
