Disney and Lego fans have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Sure, there have been a handful of Disney-themed Lego sets released in the past, but a full-fledged Disney Lego Minifigures series seemed like such a perfect idea, so it was only a matter of time.
The set is finally hitting stores (with an official release date of May 1st) so we can now get our hands on the impressively-detailed figures, scaled perfectly to the thousands of existing Lego System sets that are out there already. Included in this series are characters from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Peter Pan,” “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid,” and of course Mickey Mouse and his pals, among others.

It’s very exciting to have so many of these characters available in officially-sanctioned Lego form. If the series performs well (and of course it will, knowing the habits of Disney and Lego collectors) it seems hopeful that we will see further releases, along the lines of how Lego has handled “The Simpsons” license. Fortunately Disney has a vast wealth of franchises and characters for Lego to select from in the future.
