VIDEO: ‘Guardians’ – Russia’s answer to the Avengers

in Movies

Move over Avengers, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, Russia releases their own brand of super hero.  Not content with watching American heroes soak up the screen (and box office bucks), Russian Production company ENJOY MOVIES is bringing blockbuster battles to the theaters in February 2017 with their new title Guardians.

The $20 Million (330 million ruble) action adventure will be directed and produced by Sanik Andreasyan (noted for Russian titles The Pregnant, Moms and That Was the Men’s World).  Andreasyan is also the founder of the ENJOY MOVIES production company.

Set during the Cold War, a secret organization named “Patriot” gathered a group of Soviet super heroes, altering and augmenting the DNA of four individuals, in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats.

The group includes representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, which each one of them have long been hiding their true identity. In hard times, they settled down to business and gather to defend their homeland. – Wikipedia

Representing various regions of Russia are the heroes: Arsus, a berserker werebear, blademaster; martial arts ‘Windman’ Khan; Ler – who has the ability to control matter; and Xenia, a flexible water woman with ability to manipulate and imitate water.  In an attempt to thwart the takeover of Moscow (and ultimately the world),  these heroes battle the evil Modul-1 and his clone army.

Though the film is not set to be released until February 23, 2017, a sequel is already in the works.
