Originally splashing down in the UK September 1965, the “super marionation” puppetry of Thunderbirds aired for 32 episodes and garnered acclaim for both FX and score.  The series followed the adventures of ‘International Rescue’ and their fantastic Thunderbirds (air, sea & space rescue vehicles) and was set in the year 2065.

The popular children’s show spawned several spin-offs including the 2015 “Thunderbirds Are Go” series which traded in puppets for CGI.  The first season of this newly animated adventure aired in May-July of 2015 in the UK, Germany and Australia.

Beginning April 22, 2016, fans of the Tracy brothers will have the opportunity to enjoy the same series here in the United States.

“Thunderbirds Are Go” catapults the five brave Tracy brothers back onto television screens, where they’ll pilot their vehicles from the depths of the oceans to the highest reaches of space, performing impossible rescues across the globe. Rosamund Pike (“Gone Girl”) leads the cast as Lady Penelope with David Graham (“Thunderbirds” 1965) reprising his role as chauffeur and International Rescue agent Parker. The series is produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in collaboration with world-famous Weta Workshop, it is made using a unique mixture of CGI animation and live-action model sets. Thunderbirds Are Go will deliver a new level of action-adventure animation for today’s audience while paying tribute to the legacy of model locations from the original series.  (ComingSoon.net)
