It looks like guests might have to shell out a little more dough to ride the movies in California.

In what is possibly a direct response to the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, the theme park on Tuesday raised ticket prices by $20 to $115 on some days. An adult ticket to the park used to be $95, and if purchased online, it was $85. The Orange County Register reports that, under Universal’s new pricing model, adult tickets bought at the gates are $115. But if purchased online, they’re $10-$20 less on medium- and high-demand summer or weekend days, and $25 cheaper on less-crowded days such as in September when school is back in session.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens on April 7th, and the price raise comes just about a month after Disney announced their price hike. Going to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure now costs $95 to $119 for an adult depending on the day. The price had gone up from the previous $99 tag.

How do you feel about the price increase? A necessary evil? A bane on the theme park industry as we know it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
