A new retail destination opened today that will surely bring a lot of excitement and buzz to guests visiting the Universal Orlando Resort. As of today, the new Hello Kittty store opened up in the space formerly occupied by “Lucy: A Tribute” just inside the main entrance of the park.
Check out the video below for the first look at what’s inside!

As you enter the store, you’re immediately immersed in brightly colored walls, with bows adorning just about everything including the floors, and it’s purely kawaii overload. The merchandise offerings are endless, you’ll find everything adorably branded in a way that only Sanrio does best.
A sweet edition to the store is the candy counter. A growing theme among the parks are having unique offerings themed to the specific locations. Thats what’s going on here, and and it’s set your sweet tooth ablaze!
The new space also shares half of the building with a redesigned Betty Boop merchandise destination. The previos temp home for all things Betty could be found in the Darkroom along Hollywood Blvd. That location (shown below) is now closed, with all signage of Betty Boop removed, with the exception of a few merchandise window displays.

While the store just opened, signature co-branded merchandise between Universal Studios and Hello Kitty will slowly start to trickle in. The Hollywood theme, as shown below, is just the first of the offerings. You’ll be able to tell what’s exclusive to the park by the branding tags; a little Hello Kitty sitting atop the Universal globe will be the giveaway.
The hot item, in my opinion, would be the classic Universal film posters that have been reimagined with a twist. These aren’t available just yet, but give it about a month and these posters will surely be available for purchase.
We’ll keep our eyes open for the new stuff as it comes in, so until then, start planning on what new items you’ll be adding to your collection.
