The Walt Disney Company has named Bob Weis the new head of Walt Disney Imagineering, it was announced Friday.

Bruce Vaughn, who oversaw the division alongside co-executive leader Craig Russell, will be leaving the company to explore other opportunities, the Orange County Register reported. Russell will be taking another role within the company “focusing on project execution and integration around the world”.

The news comes amid a flurry of announced closures at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in preparation for the new Star Wars areas at both parks. The company earlier this week also revealed the opening date of Shanghai Disney Resort, which Weis has been overseeing.

Weis has considerable experience with the company, having previously worked on the Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disney California Adventure.
