The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade (more commonly known as the Rose Parade) has been held every New Year’s Day since 1890 (or on January 2nd if New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday) and for more than 75 of those years the Walt Disney Company has had a presence in the parade.

The 2016 parade will be no exception, with Disneyland Resort contributing three full floats to the parade, making up one long train of floats celebrating the 60th anniversary of Disneyland. The floats will included a “Disneyland Diamond Celebration” float designed to resemble Sleeping Beauty Castle, a “Frozen” float shaped like Elsa’s ice fortress, and of course a “Star Wars” float inspired by the concept art for the upcoming Star Wars Disneyland expansion, and featuring a giant Millennium Falcon.

This week we were able to visit the large warehouse where the Disney floats were being prepared for the parade, and interview some of the creative team involved with their design.
