Both Disney and Universal have made their marks on the holiday season, with exciting events from Grinchmas to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. However, SeaWorld looks to continue its own tradition with SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration. Their celebration of the holidays begins on November 21st, and lasts until New Year’s Eve.

O Wonderful Night

This year, many popular shows and re-themed attractions return. The extremely popular “O Wonderous Night” is set to return, which tells a unique nativity story comparable to Disney’s candlelight processional. However, in SeaWorld fashion, animals help with the storytelling and make it an enjoyable and unique telling.

A trip to SeaWorld is not complete without seeing the Orcas, and “Shamu® Christmas Miracles” is sure to satisfy. Like many of the shows with the Orcas, expect amazing aerial acrobatics and family-friendly storytelling. Check the schedule for the show, because this show occurs exclusively at night (unlike many of the other shows that begin during the afternoon).

For those with children, make sure to check out “Elmo’s Christmas Wish,” a show that brings the Sesame Street favorite character to the stage for a fun adventure. The show also features other Sesame Street characters Zoe, Grover, Rosita, and Cookie Monster, and should provide some excitement for any fan of the series.

A fun attraction to check out during this time of year is the Polar Express Experience. The attraction is themed over the existing Wild Arctic attraction so it is possible to partake in the experience earlier in the day. It first appeared in 2007, and is themed after the Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks film from 2004.

Fans of figure skating should also check out the “Winter Wonderland on Ice” show. The show usually has very pretty set design, as well as impressive skating performances. It is another spectacular example of the diversity of shows that are brought to SeaWorld during the holiday season.

If you want to catch all three big ticket shows (“O Wonderous Night,” “Shamu® Christmas Miracles,” and “Winter Wonderland on Ice”) consider the Christmas Celebration Reserved Seating Package. It not only has reserved seating for each of the shows, but it also comes with a dining certificate good at several of the restaurants. The package starts at $24 per person, making it one of the more affordable theme park dining plans this winter.

Another fun dining package is the Santa’s Fireside Feast experience. The experience gives guests the ability to have an exclusive meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, as well as a complimentary family photo. The food at the event is all-you-care-to-eat and includes holiday favorite entrees and desserts. Reservations are required, and the package starts at $29 per person.

Perhaps the highlight of a night at SeaWorld’s celebration are the decorations. Both the Christmas Village and the Sea of Trees attractions give guests over 100 uniquely decorated trees to enjoy. The Christmas village also brings artisan gifts and unique entertainers to celebrate the holiday season. There are many photo-ops available in both locations, and are a great way to enjoy Christmas lights or a nice hot chocolate.

Finally, there will also be a special event for those celebrating the New Year at SeaWorld. Not only will there be special festivities going on throughout the park, but a New Year’s Eve firework show will help ring in the New Year.

The official dates of SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration are November 21st, 22nd, 27-29th and December 4-6th, 11-13th, and 18th-31st. For more information, visit http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworld-orlando/events/seaworlds-christmas-celebration/.
