“Star Wars” and Marvel-themed series from Disney’s Maker Studios announced for Verizon’s Go90 service

Disney’s Maker Studios announced today that it will be producting at least eight new original web series for Verizon’s Go90 video service, including original reality series based two of its most high-profile properties: Marvel and “Star Wars.”

Go90 is a free downloadable app available for both iOS and Android mobile devices.

The “Star Wars”-themed reality/documentary series, produced in conjunction with Morgan Spurlock’s Warrior Poets company and of course Lucasfilm, will be entitled “In a Galaxy” and will consist of twenty-two episodes, each focusing on the life of a “Star Wars” super-fan.

The Marvel series will be called “Marvel’s Off the Rack,” and will follow celebrities from a wide spectrum of fame as they explore and discuss the Marvel universe with the help of Marvel creators themselves.

Also on the Go90 series list from Maker Studios are “Fantasy Quest” (a 3D animated series inspried by the extremely-popular “Minecraft” video game,) “Polaris Grand Prix” (a video-game racing series,) “Prank School” (starring YouTube magician Rahat,) “Defining Beauty” (an examination of cultural beauty standards from four African-American beauty experts,) and an as-yet-untitled dance competition show starring hip-hop crew Jabbawockeez.

No release date has been announced for the upcoming content, but the Go90 app launched October 1st and is already available for download.
