Another new restaurant has opened at Universal Orlando CityWalk, Bread Box Handcrafted Sandwiches. It’s the fourth new eatery in the last month to enhance the offerings at the popular nighttime hotspot.

Bread Box replaces CityWalk’s former cigar shop, located next to the new Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, now offering a menu of freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, and soups, along with a few delicious desserts.

With a diner feel, Bread Box offers a comfortable environment in which patrons can enjoy a good sandwich. It has bright colors and the unusual touch of swinging benches inside.

The menu includes both cold and hot sandwiches, all made to order. The “Fresh” side features the cold options, including staples like chicken salad, Italian, and roast beef, with the interesting addition of a PLT – a BLT using Italian pancetta instead of bacon. But the stars of the menu are the “Grilled Cheese” options that feature much more than just cheeses. The 3 Cheese sandwich is drippy good, especially when adding bacon, tomato, or caramelized onions. Other tasty options include the pastrami, tomato and mozarella, and smokey brisket.

Hot sandwiches are smaller than the cold ones, though the prices are the same at $7.95. And while they aren’t necessarily anything pretty to look at, they do taste great.

There are soups and salads as well, but the stars of the menu are the milkshakes, Vanilla Sky and Chocolate Hazelnut, the latter of which is made with Nutella and is wonderfully thick, creamy, cold, and deliciously sweet.

Bread Box had the misfortune of opening on the busy July 4th holiday, understaffed and taking quite a long time to serve up dishes even late at night. But they’ve quickly gotten their act together, now delivering solid sandwiches quickly.

Like the recently-opened Hot Dog Hall of Fame, Bread Box offers a good meal for those wanting to grab and go.
