In front of a small group of select media, Disney this morning unveiled the first-ever exclusive “Star Wars” products coming soon to Disney Store.
In a presentation at Disney Store headquarters, toy designers ran through upcoming products developed together with Lucasfilm to begin to debut in the mall stores on May the 4th.

A highlight of the new Disney Store products are the figure sets featuring familiar and favorite characters from the original film trilogy, from Han Solo to Luke to Slave Leia and beyond.
These will be $12.95.
Another exciting set of upcoming figures are an 18″ line of talking figures featuring the original voices and sounds from the first “Star Wars” trilogy as well as light-up effects. The first wave features Darth Vader (with illuminated light saber), a Stormtrooper, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker.
These are priced at $29.95 each.
Coming later will be Chewbacca and Boba Fett.
(Prototypes seen here.)
A new line of die-cast vehicles was also revealed, with impressive size and detail across all of Star Wars’ most famous vehicles. Cockpit doors open along with other articulation points, such as AT-AT heads and legs moving and X-Wing wings opening.
Mostly unpainted plastic prototypes were shown off to give an idea of the size and detail on each, seen below. The final products will be hefty, die-cast metal, showcased in collectible packaging.
Another popular product line for Disney Store is plush and their goal with Star Wars is to bring characters and creatures that aren’t the most common.
There’s a Bantha already in stores with a Taun Taun, Jawa, and R2-D2 coming soon. Artoo has an articulated head that rotates.
Character mugs are also on the way to Disney Store.
Just like with Disney Princesses, role play costumes are also part of the Disney Store Star Wars line for children.
At a local mall the night before, Disney Store vice president Jonathan Storey also introduced upcoming “Star Wars” events for mall locations beginning on May the 4th (naturally) that include giveaways of free pins, inflatable light sabers, and medals.
This is a sampling of what Disney Store is planning. They’ve already begun work on Episode 7 merchandise for next year’s big movie release along with plenty of products that were unveiled at the recent New York Toy Fair for Star Wars Rebels. And there is a great possibility of higher end collectibles to come.
Disney is treating the Star Wars franchise with care, aiming accurate merchandise at all audiences – general, kids, and hardcore fans – with a little something for everyone.
