D23 Expo to debut Spider-Man and Iron Man characters in first Disney Marvel meet-and-greet, part of Disney Channel line-up

At the D23 Expo 2013, Marvel will be brought to life in a new way for Disney in the first character meet-and-greets from that universe since the acquisition in 2009.

Though Disneyland recently debuted a gallery of Iron Man suits and Walt Disney World has the “Iron Manorail“, the world of Marvel hasn’t yet been fully realized in a Disney theme park. But starting with the D23 Expo in August, in conjunction with Disney Channel, fans will see that integration begin to take place.

Stars from Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior will be on hand at the D23 Expo in live performances and signing autographs with a packed schedule August 9-11, 2013. It will all kick off with “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel,” a special-one hour telecast featuring a teaming of characters Disney and Marvel franchises in which fans will have the first opportunity to meet Spider-Man and Iron Man (11:30 – 1:00 pm), along with Phineas, Ferb, and Agent P. (The special premieres this summer on Disney Channel.)

It’s possible these Marvel character representations won’t resemble that which has been seen on the big screen, instead favoring the TV animated versions in shows like Disney XD’s “Ultimate Spider-Man.” But it will be a milestone moment for Disney, offering a first Marvel meet-and-greet as they continue to work on bringing those characters into their theme parks, beginning with Hong Kong Disneyland.

Beyond Marvel, there are plenty more Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior events throughout the D23 Expo weekend. The following is the schedule of stars making special appearances and signing autographs in Disney Channels’ booth:
