Disneyland developing mobile quest game called “Disney Kudos,” giving guests check-in badges for theme park tasks

While Walt Disney World rolls out a variety of interactive experiences across its many theme parks, Disneyland appears to be developing its own in-park activity, a mobile game letting guests unlock achievements by completing location-driven quests.

The app is called “Disney Kudos,” first noted by Stitch Kingdom earlier today.

But further digging online produced a brief video demo of a version of “Disney Kudos,” showing the app in action as of 1 month ago:

UPDATE (1/27/13): The video was deleted by its uploader, Douglas Land Mai, along with his Vimeo account. It seems someone didn’t think it should be online just yet. Screenshots from the video remain below.

The app’s opening screen appears as a Boy Scout (or Wilderness Explorer?) style shirt and sash with badges, a theme continuing throughout the app. Sliding a “shirt zipper” opens the app:

From there, users are presented with a variety of options to choose different Disneyland lands, unlock quests for specific attractions. One example is the “Party King” badge, unlocked by visiting the Bayou Bash.

Foursquare users will be familiar with the process, checking in at a variety of locations to earn achievements.

“”Investigate spooky noises coming from Pirates of the Caribbean” is an example of a task presented by “Disney Kudos.” Another screen shows a series of notes leading players to watch a parade.

Stitch Kingdom’s initial report shared a pair of screenshots of what appear to be an entiretly different look for the game, on an iPhone version and web site (and/or iPad):

They also noted Disney has registered a variety of related domain names, including DisneyKudos.com and DisneyAchievements.com, neither of which are currently live sites.

No further information is available for “Disney Kudos,” as it does appear to be currently in development and not officially announced. But it seems to be a first step for Disneyland to offer an interactive game in its parks, without introducing any physical elements like many of Walt Disney World’s games have so far.
