Yesterday Disneyland Resort brought down the walls that have surrounded the new Carthay Circle Theatre since its construction began many months ago. This new icon of the Disney California Adventure theme park will feature a lounge, Archives exhibit, restaurant, and the exclusive 1901 club. Although none of that is open to the public quite yet, guests visiting the park can now get the first sense of what the area will be like when Buena Vista Street fully opens next month.
Take a look at the Carthay Circle Theatre at sunset and after dark in the video below, followed by photos of many of its details.
Video: Carthay Circle Theatre and Restaurant unveiled at Disney California Adventure
Located at the end of Buena Vista Street, the Carthay Circle Theatre will act as a “weenie,” drawing guests into the park. Its peak is even visible outside the Disney California Adventure turnstiles.
The Carthay Circle marquee makes it clear that while the building is modeled after the old Hollywood theater (now demolished), inside actually resides a restaurant with “premiere cuisine.”
To the right of the building, a ticket window plays off the theatre theme while the plaque next to it explains the significance of the Carthay Circle Theatre, where Walt Disney premiered “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” many decades ago.
Out front, Cast Members show off the swanky new costumes, slightly different for lunch and dinner service.
In promotion of the restaurant’s opening, Cast Members are handing out business cards with reservation information.
Lunch and dinner menus are posted, similar in content and prices.
Sophisticated details surround the Carthay Circle Theatre.
At night, hues of orange and purple illuminate the structure. I’m told there will also be Hollywood premiere-style search lights on top of the building when it opens.
The Carthay Circle Theatre will make its grand debut on June 15, 2012, along with Buena Vista Street and Cars Land, marking the completion of a 5-year improvement project for Disney California Adventure.
