The highly-anticipated Disney XD series “Tron: Uprising” from Disney Television Animated has a debut date set: Thursday, June 7, 2012. But leading up to its debut, Disney has released a new trailer offering a further glimpse at the highly stylized world of the Grid, as it will appear in the new show.

Even before the portal to “Tron: Uprising” opens in June, Disney Channel will air a 30-minute special called “Tron: Uprising, Beck’s Beginning” on May 18, a prequel to the series that stars Elijah Wood in the lead role as Beck. The series takes place somewhere between the original “TRON” film and its sequel “Tron: Legacy,” set in Argon City, ruled by Clu’s henchman named General Tesler. Tron, played once again by Bruce Boxleitner, has tapped Beck as his successor, as the world already believes Tron to have been disposed of by Clu. Their aim is to gain freedom from Tesler’s oppressive rule.
