Walt Disney World launches free Wi-Fi Internet access for all its Orlando hotels

Walt Disney World Resort has begun offering free wireless internet (Wi-Fi) service across all its hotels. The complementary Wi-Fi extends to every room and many common areas, such as pools, restaurants, and lobbies.

Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground are the sole exception, though free wired Internet access is available to those staying there. Upon connecting, Walt Disney World guests will need to agree to Disney’s terms and conditions before accessing the free public Wi-Fi. In recent years, Walt Disney World hotels have lagged behind most Orlando resorts by continuing to only offer wired access for an extra charge. But Disney began slowly rolling out free Wi-Fi as a test at select hotels in October 2011, now expanding to Deluxe, Moderate, and Value resorts.

In contrast, Disneyland Resort hotels in California have offered free Wi-Fi access for several years.

Walt Disney World Resort currently has 23 themed hotels, with a 24th on the way when Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opens its first phase in May 2012.
