LEGOLAND Florida celebrates first Christmas with tree lighting and Christmas Bricktacular

in Entertainment, Events, LEGOLAND, Theme Parks

Beginning Thursday, LEGOLAND Florida will be getting into the holiday spirit with their first annual Christmas Bricktacular. Continuing through the end of the year, the new Central Florida theme park will feature festive decorations and sounds of the season throughout The Beginning and Fun Town parts of the park, followed by Kids’ New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31.

The Beginning includes a special LEGO Christmas tree that’s more than 30 feet tall, made entirely from a combination of 270,000 forest green LEGO and DUPLO bricks. The park’s first-ever tree lighting ceremony took place yesterday, Dec. 5, with a special master of ceremonies. Olympic Hurdler David Oliver helped to “jump-start” the first-ever LEGOLAND Florida Christmas Bricktacular by lighting the tree alongside park General Manager Adrian Jones and Santa Claus himself.

Through Dec. 31, each day a family will be chosen to help light the Bricktacular tree. Guests wanting a good nighttime view of the tree and the theme park should visit during the last week of the month, when it will regularly be open until 7pm. On other days throughout December, the park closes as early as 5pm, before the sun even sets.

As part of the Christmas Bricktacular, Santa Claus will make special daily appearances in the historical botanical gardens, posing for pictures with guests.

Kids’ New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31 will let kids rock out and watch the sky explode with LEGO fireworks at midnight KST (Kid Standard Time) – otherwise known as 7 p.m. EST.

All holiday events are included in park admission. Tickets and more information, including park hours, for LEGOLAND Florida are available at LEGOLAND.com.
