When Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opens its first phase in May 2012, guests will come face-to-face with larger-than-life smiling characters from the Disney/Pixar film “Finding Nemo.” Today the Disney has offered a first look at some of the huge sculptures being installed into the “Finding Nemo” wing of the new hotel, one of four animated film-themed sections.

An enormous Mr. Ray swims by the buildings alongside Nemo and Marlin nestled within an anemone. The sculptures were designed based on original character models from the film.

To get an idea of scale, look at the seemingly tiny construction workers standing just below Mr. Ray’s tail in the above photo and around the still-wrapped sculpture below.

The first phase of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will open on May 31, 2012, followed by the “Cars” wing in July 2012 and “The Lion King” wing in September 2012, finishing with “The Little Mermaid” wing in late 2012.
