In just over an hour, SeaWorld will announce three new attractions for its theme parks in Orlando. Included in the announcements will be attractions opening in 2012 and 2013, expanding both the SeaWorld Orlando park as well as Discovery Cove.

Opening in Spring 2012 at SeaWorld Orlando, TurtleTrek will be a 360-degree movie featuring sea turtles and manatees. It follows closely behind SeaWorld’s first journey to the big screen with “Turtle: The Incredible Journey” from the newly-formed SeaWorld Pictures division of the company. The experience will also feature new aquariums with live freshwater and saltwater fish, manatees, and sea turtles.

The Discovery Cove park will receive a new Freshwater Oasis, featuring an environment themed to a rainforest featuring otters and monkeys, also opening in Spring 2012. This area takes the place of the previous saltwater reef, which closed when Discovery Cove recently opened its new Grand Reef.

Then in 2013, SeaWorld Orlando will expand once again with Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, replacing the existing penguin encounter with a whole new area of the park featuring a state-of-the-art new ride as well as interactions with penguins.

More details about all three attractions are expected later today, once SeaWorld formally makes its announcements, so check back here for continuing coverage throughout the day.
