Ghoulish glimpse at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party including Disney’s Haunted Mansion parade performers

in Disney, Entertainment, Theme Parks

Amidst the adult-oriented Halloween entertainment at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights and Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream exists Disney’s family-friendly answer for fright-free fun, with a name that says it all: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

The after-hours, hard-ticketed event at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom offers guests of all ages a chance to enjoy Halloween-themed festivities without worrying about ever being scared. While wandering Disney’s spirited theme park streets, guests can unlimitedly trick-or-treat, take pictures in rare character photo opportunities, and enjoy special shows including the Happy HalloWishes fireworks and Boo To You parade. Plus many of the Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides remain open throughout the party including, of course, The Haunted Mansion, eerily lit for the occasion.

And speaking of The Haunted Mansion, its 999 happy haunts are represented in the Boo To You parade by a large parade set that includes the caretaker and his dog (both quite alive), shovel-wielding butlers, a graveyard-inspired float, ballroom dancers, and the famous hitchhiking ghosts. When I attended the Halloween Party a couple weeks ago, the parade temporarily halted, allowing me to capture the entire Haunted Mansion routines from the butlers, dancers, and ghosts.

So here’s a fun, extended video look at the Haunted Mansion section of Disney’s Boo To You parade:

And with special lighting and decorations to be found throughout the Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the camera lens. Please enjoy this slideshow of 59 of my favorite photos I took throughout the evening:
