Talking Mickey Mouse converses with special guests at “World of Color” premiere event

The “World of Color” premiere event kicked off with the historic presence of Mickey Mouse, talking directly with attending special guests.

It was a mere month-and-a-half ago that the interactive, talking Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet created a stir among Disney fans around the world. But last night, Mickey Mouse appeared before an audience of celebrities, Disney executives, and invited media to open the “World of Color” world premiere.

Upon his arrival, Mickey spoke with songwriter Richard Sherman in the audience and a few other celebrities, before getting on stage and interacting with Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs and Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Here’s a video of the full “World of Color” event opening:

This momentous occasion was a piece of history in the making, with the head of the Walt Disney Company having a public conversation with Mickey Mouse live on stage, without any pre-recorded lines. Mickey was clearly talking one-on-one with each person, even at one point accidentally beginning to speak out of turn and quickly correcting himself. Mickey Mouse has now truly become a real-life character and I highly doubt this is the last time we’ll see the mouse that started it all on stage as the face of Disney. I have to imagine that Walt Disney would be very proud and would have loved to have had a chance to converse directly with his famous character.

Following the entertaining opening ceremony, Disney put on a full performance of the new “World of Color” show, which you can watch in its entirety here.

As of today, June 11, 2010, “World of Color” is now being peformed nightly at the Disney California Adventure theme park.
