‘Last Tour to Endor’ special event at Walt Disney World to celebrate Star Tours ride

Star Wars fans coming to Orlando for Star Wars Celebration V in August will have a chance to enjoy a special “going away” party for the Star Tours attraction at Walt Disney World before it closes to become Star Tours II.

Last Tour to Endor” is a hard-ticketed special event taking place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. Disney describes the event as “a first-of-its-kind entertainment experience so incredible that not even the Rebel’s Bothan spies have been able to steal the top-secret plans!”

The $75 ticket price will include trips aboard the Star Tours attraction plus “Symphony in the Stars, a Star Wars fireworks spectacular as only Disney can create.” Attendees are being encouraged to come in costume (Star Wars costumes, of course), a rarity outside of Disney’s Halloween events.

Also included in the ticket cost is round trip transportation to/from Orange County Convention Center and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The number of tickets available is limited, so booking early is recommended. Tickets are on sale now.

Disney has not yet announced a date for Star Tours to close and begin the makeover into Star Tours II. The update was long-rumored and officially announced at last year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif. At that time, it was said that Star Tours would close in October 2010, so it’s likely that the attraction will remain open past the “Last Tour to Endor” special event.

“Star Wars Celebration V” will take place August 12-15, 2010, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. More information and tickets to the mega-event are available on their web site.
